Sherry Viktora "As an artisan and instructor, using PMC, glass and organic materials to create unique nature-inspired jewelry and small sculptures gives me great pleasure, but teaching and sharing brings me the most joy. I believe I left one healing profession to begin another less obvious one; for in creating and sharing we help rejuvenate not only ourselves, but others whose lives we are privileged to touch."
Sherry was a practicing critical care and administrative RN for 39 years.. During her exciting but often stressful nursing career, Sherry relaxed by working outdoors on their 10 acre property with her family, numerous animals and gardens. From childhood Sherry loved animals, the outdoors and working with her hands to make original and unique creations which included a pond and waterfall, glass fountains, gardens and many other projects. She began working with stained and fused glass in 1987 and began designing and making glass and copper garden accessories and fountains. Around 1999 Sherry was introduced to PMC. Although she didn't realize it at the time, this was to be the beginning of a new career in art and teaching. This wonderful material had almost limitless possibilities, allowing her to combine elements of nature with glass, silver and other materials.
Sherry became a PMCC Senior Instructor in 2003 and retired from nursing to teach and create full time. Nicknamed the "Queen of Green" by her fellow Senior Instructors, Sherry continues to integrate the natural world with her silver, glass and mixed media creations in both jewelry and sculptures, large and small.
Sherry teaches both locally and throughout the United States, has been published in several books and magazines and has been juried into the Illinois Artisan Program and 14 South Aritsts in So. Wisconsin. Her work has been accepted in several galleries in Illinois and Wisconsin.
